It is November and suddenly the holiday season is upon us. Already families are making preparations for Thanksgiving. Advent begins in just three weeks, and Christmas will be here before you know it. I hope that it’s a time of joyful anticipation. But for some this time of year can be a difficult time. With the cold weather and shorter days, along with the anxiety that holidays can bring, many people experience a heaviness of heart.
Yet, we have much to be thankful for, as a parish family and as the community of Patchogue. In that spirit of community I invite you to come to the annual Thanksgiving Eve Interfaith Prayer Service, which this year will be held at the United Methodist Church of Patchogue on South Ocean Ave., just south of Main Street, on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 7pm. I look forward to this prayer service (which we hosted last year), where we join our friends from other houses of worship in thanksgiving and prayer. I hope you can all come that night.
Do you love to sing? If you’d like to be part of a joint choir for the Interfaith Service, please come to the United Methodist Church at 6pm for a rehearsal. All are welcome!
